ITINERARY

DAY 1

Arrive Mumbai

Please be in Mumbai no later than today. If coming directly from New Zealand or Australia, you are able to depart on Saturday morning and connect same day to Mumbai through Singapore with Singapore Airlines (SQ424 Singapore - Mumbai).

DAY 2

Mumbai

An easy settling in day. After a late start, tour with Sarah around some key Mumbai sites including Mani Bhavan (Gandhi’s House), the Jain temple on Malabar Hill, the Hanging Gardens and see the Dhobi Ghat (the largest outdoor laundry in India). Today there's an option to have a late lunch at a super contemporary Indian restaurant (at own cost) led by a fabulous young female chef. Drinks and nibbles tonight (at own cost) overlooking the Arabian Sea as the sun goes down. Early night tonight as it’s an early start tomorrow!

DAY 3

Mumbai

An early start this morning with a ‘Mumbai at Dawn’ market tour. We'll head back to the hotel for breakfast. Later this morning we'll see the famed Gateway to India and then have the chance to watch the Dabbawalla’s sort lunchboxes at Churchgate Station. This afternoon you will have free time. Perhaps a wander around the laneway shopping precinct of Fort or exploration of Colaba Causeway’s market shopping. There's also the optoin to visit Dharavi, India's largest slum. It's defnitely not what you expect! Tonight, if you have the energy, we’ll do a Street Food Tour of Mumbai (at own cost)!

DAY 4

Mumbai - Delhi

A mid-morning flight from Mumbai to India’s capital city, Delhi. Once settled into our hotel, you’ll have free time to explore the nearby Cottage Industry Emporium (traditional crafts), Tibetan Markets and Connaught Place. Alternatively, just enjoy the hotel, spa and it’s lovely swimming pool.

DAY 5

Delhi

This morning we will visit Old Delhi. Venture inside Jama Masjid Mosque (one of India's largest), wander through the 'Wedding Market', visit bustling Chandhi Chowk on bicycle rickshaw and explore Khari Baoli Spice Market. This is real India energy! You'll have free time this afternoon…fancy a Bollywood dance class? Maybe a massage? You’re always welcome to join Sarah as she explores things old and new…there’s a lot to do in Delhi!

DAY 6

Delhi

There's an option this morning to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan (once known as Viceroy's House) - it's worth visiting just to see the ballroom. The rest of the day is free for you to make your own plans. Activity recommendations today include a visit to the Gandhi Museum, a stroll through the Lodhi Gardens or an afternoon wandering through the boutiques of Khan Market. Alternatively visit Humayun's Tomb, the Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple or the Red Fort. As always you are welcome to join Sarah on her adventures! Tonight, there's the option to have dinner at one of the best restaurants in India (dinner at own cost)!

DAY 7

Delhi - Agra

It's an early start to get on the road to Agra. We'll arrive late morning and after checking in, we will head to the Agra Fort for your first glimpse of the Taj Mahal! After lunch with a view, we'll get even closer for another fantastic vantage of this incredible structure. Be prepared to be blown away!

DAY 8

Agra - Jaipur

This is it…an early morning guided dawn visit to the Taj Mahal. You'll have the chance to explore the gardens, go inside and hear the fascinating love story behind the most romantic building on earth. After breakfast, we are on the road and will stop to see the abandoned Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri along the way. Nearby we will have lunch in an old palace now operating as a hotel. We are staying in an old haveli hotel in Jaipur and you'll have the chance to settle in with free time tonight.

DAY 9

Jaipur

This morning we will have a guided visit to the Amber Fort and the Panna Meena Ka Kund Stepwell. The rest of the day is yours to explore the fabulous high-energy capital of Rajasthan. The shopping and sights are fantastic in Jaipur so a list of super spots to visit will be provided. Tonight we’ll do a hosted cooking class together with dinner at a local haveli.

DAY 10

Jaipur

Today is a free day for more exploration of Jaipur. Sarah will provide a list of activity options and recommendations including a visit to an elephant rescue sanctuary, creative workshops such as Indian embroidery or block printing, a visit the City Palace or the Jantar Mantar. There’s so also so many bazaars to explore – handicrafts, jewellery, you name it. Don’t get lost! Tonight we’ll have a fabulous dinner at the even more fabulous Bar Palladio – Sarah will make a reservation (dinner at own cost).

DAY 11

Jaipur - Pushkar

We’ll start the morning with a dawn tour of Jaipur…see the city come alive and explore the local fruit and vegetable markets, visit a temple worship and try some local breakfast street foods. After breakfast, we will leave the pink city of Jaipur and travel to Pushkar, the site of the annual "Pushkar Camel Fair". This afternoon enjoy the accommodation followed by a very special bush dinner in the sand dunes. Sit around the campfire to watch traditional a folk performance while you enjoy the sunset. Dinner will be served under the stars.

DAY 12

Pushkar - Jodhpur

This morning we will explore the lakeside town of Pushkar where we will visit the famed local temple – the only Lord Brahma Temple in the world. You’ll also have free time to wander around the bazaar or enjoy a coffee in a local café. We will head deeper into Rajasthan to the famed 'Blue City' of Jodhpur. Once settled into your accommodation, take a swim in the hotel pool, make the most of the spa facilities or go exploring! Sarah will book dinner for those keen tonight at a fabulous old residence (dinner at own cost).

DAY 13

Jodphur

Today we will visit the Mehrangarh Fort sitting high above the city (we've saved the best for last). There are bazaars to explore in your own time and a visit to the Umaid Bhawan Palace is also highly recommended. Join Sarah for dinner tonight at a wonderful rooftop restaurant if you're keen (dinner at own cost).

DAY 14

Jodhpur - Delhi

Start the morning with a guided heritage walking tour of old Jodhpur – watch this city awaken with this captivating blend of culture and character. Later this morning, we will check out and head back to Delhi (by plane). A final meal together tonight (dinner at own cost).

DAY 15

Depart Delhi

You will be transferred to Delhi International Airport for your flight. A morning departure from Delhi back to Singapore (SQ401 Delhi - Singapore) connects with overnight flights to New Zealand or Australia. You’ll be back home on Sunday. Alternatively, talk to Sarah about trip extensions - maybe a couple of days in Goa on the beach or exploring the palaces of Udaipur?
